Dana is an artist, educator, and researcher based in Tkaronto. Her practice examines personal and collective relations with colonial structures through a careful attention to the ground, and the different forms of living and dying within it. She studied education, architecture, and ceramics in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and has a Master of Visual Studies from University of Toronto. Her work has been presented in national and international galleries, public spaces, and informal cultural venues. Dana is a co-founder and educator at SHEEEPschool, a research associate for Finding Flowers project, and the coordinator of the podcast "Sounds Like Land."

Led by multidisciplinary artist Dana Prieto, this hands-on workshop will study soil as a complex material that tells us vital stories of the places and times we are immersed in. Soil is always multiple, as it holds various forms of life, colors, smells, pigments, textures, chemicals, and histories. How does soil remember our times? We will use locally sourced dirt-derived materials to create a series of wax crayons that participants can take with them at the end of the event. Everyone is welcome, and no experience is needed to attend.

NOTE: Children who attend must be accompanied by and adult

Thank you to Janina and the team at Evergreen Brickworks for your support!
